Royal Outfit Grab Bag of the Day: May 7 (Plus a Programming Note!)

I've got a big fat grab bag of outfits from our regulars for you today, and then we're off until Sunday. To the clothes!

Princess Elisabeth of Belgium christened a ship yesterday with her parents, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, in attendance.
Is it, like, international week of ship christening for future sovereigns, or what? First Ingrid Alexandra, now Elisabeth. Anyway, I'm liking her little starter "hat" and her mother can't go wrong with that repeated Dior.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit opened the Nordic Pavilion at the Venice Biennale yesterday in a peony floral dress from the Pia Tjelta by Ti Mo collection.
I think this could just as easily have been worn by Princess Elisabeth above, and I'm not sure that's a good thing.

Queen Letizia held audiences at Zarzuela Palace last week wearing a Felipe Varela dress repeated from March's trip to France.
Is this one of those Magic Eye things? Is a dolphin going to leap out from the middle if I stare long enough?

Daniel wore a suit that wasn't black or blue! Write it on the calendar! It's so sad that that's worthy of note! But you take what you can get when it comes to the royal men! (Also, apropos of nothing: Victoria, Daniel, Haakon, and Mette-Marit went on a ski trip in Norway together recently. Which is super cute.)

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima attended a ceremony for Remembrance Day in Amsterdam this week.
I do not usually comment on things like this, but I can't help but note how lovely Máx looked here. I like it when events like this warrant a little extra effort.

They also attended the Liberation Day Concert.
And finally, if I focus hard enough on the emeralds - earrings and a butterfly brooch from the family collection - I can pretend that dress that stole feathers from a Big Bird gone goth didn't make a reappearance.

Royal Outfit Grab Bag of the Day: December 9

'Tis time once again to pull a random assortment of recent outfits from some of our regulars, a little sampler platter of sartorial happenings, from which to pick and choose.

Been a while since we featured Mette-Marit here. But whenever she does pop up, there's a good chance she'll be sporting this dress, or so it seems. The By Ti Mo model (which she owns in another color/print too) must be on her list of personal favorites for 2014.
Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit attended the 75th Anniversary of the Norwegian People's Aid on Friday.

Queen Letizia brought back the oops-I-ran-out-of-fabric dress from National Day.
The Spanish Royal Family attended the National Sports Awards on Thursday.
"Listen, dear, I don't want to alarm you, but there's a different dress on the back of your dress." Felipe, clearly concerned.
And she's still making this the year of earrings, I see. (Which I am all for, though long time readers know overly matchy accessories make me twitchy and this plus the shoes it a bit much.)

Máxima stood outside in a shiny turban. As one does.
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima attended a ceremony to award the Military Order of William on Thursday.
It's not so bad with the coat closed. It ties the whole thing together more than it does when the coat is open. She looks cozy, I'll give her that. If you want to see it the other way, you can click here for a gallery. Or you can leave it at this and I wouldn't blame you.

And finally, in Denmark, Mary hosted a Christmas reception for her foundation.
It's a new Dolce & Gabbana number (per StyleofMary) and I'm all over this. A simple red dress? Perfect. We'll end it on a high note.

Royal Outfit of the Day (with a Bonus Tiara Watch!): June 12

Crown Princess Mette-Marit attended the AmfAR Inspiration Gala in New York this week.
Well, it made the celeb red carpet rounds, and now this dress is making the royal rounds - first on Crown Princess Victoria, now here on her Scandinavian neighbor Mette-Marit. I'm a little disappointed, though...I thought surely if I could count on anyone to deliver a fierce shoe with this dress, it would be my dear M-M, but instead she's delivered Just Another Nude Shoe. Le sigh.
So, who's next? Mary? She's a fan of the H&M Conscious Collection, maybe she'll go for it.

After royally repeating in New York, she popped back home to participate in a state visit from Germany. And you know what that means: Tiaras Ahoy! Last night, the gala dinner was held. (Click here for a video, or here's an article with a full length Mette-Marit picture.) Queen Sonja wore Queen Maud's Pearl and Diamond Tiara, Mette-Marit was in her usual barely-there Diamond Daisy Tiara, and Princess Astrid wore her delightfully wacky Gold Bandeau.
What we learn here is that Mette-Marit is a big fan of the Pia Tjelta by Ti Mo collection. We've already seen her in two floral dresses from the line. Now, this gala dress is a customized version of the white dress seen at right above (in a tiered full length, with a shorter sleeve) - and she already has the off the rack version of the white dress too. She's got to have an entire closet devoted to white dresses at this point, right? Not that I'm complaining. This Nordic princess wears the pristine color like no other.

Royal Headbands of the Day: May 12

Crown Princess Mary traveled to Norway on Friday, where she joined Crown Princess Mette-Marit to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Heligoland.
This is that outfit that I liked before on Mary, but I liked it better without the hat, but I still prefer Mary's hat to M-M's "hat", which is not a hat but a headband with some stuff on it, if you see what I mean. Anyway: M&M-M's DAY OUT! It's like a Girls' Night Out, but with more pantyhose. (And yes, Mette-Marit is wearing the By Ti Mo dress we saw before, just in a different color. She must have liked it just as much as I did.)

In other fancy headband news...
Also last week, Princess Letizia held audiences at Zarzuela Palace, wearing a Hugo Boss skirt and a headband from children's brand Nanos with stars on the side.
What's this? My stars (see what I did there), what do we have here?! Well, well, well. Is Letizia having a little fun with her outfit for a change, or are her daughters dressing her now? You know what, I think I'm good with either answer.

Royal Outfit of the Day: March 27

Crown Princess Mette-Marit wore a floral patterned dress from By Ti Mo during a recent trip to Vietnam.
Listen. About that recent excursion into the world of Proenza Schouler... (sometimes brands aren't royal favorites for a reason, ahem)... I'm willing to pretend it didn't happen if you are. You wanna talk about something pretty instead? Let's do it: I love this! This one could veer so easily into little girl territory - smocking at the neck, puff sleeves, floral print - but instead it's just feminine and lovely. And it happens to be from a Norwegian brand, which we always like to see on M-M. A more interesting shoe color would be nice, but the nude shoes are the right pick if one insists on staying at the safe end of the spectrum. This might just be my favorite Mette-Marit look so far this year. I mean, it's early days and we haven't even seen her in a tiara yet, but it's in the running.
