Online Avenue's Suede Stilettos

What girl doesn't like strutting into a party with mega high stiletto heels (well, unless you're me and occasionally feel like a 7 foot giant)?

Today's post revolves around Online Avenue's insanely high, black suede, golden ankle-strapped heels - aren't they just gorgeous?! I was in awe when I received these and wondered why I didn't own anything like this in my shoe collection.



These stunning high heels can make any girl's dreams come true - I was in heaven when I tried these on and looked in the mirror to see my legs appear longer. I have such short and stumpy legs so this was a huge bonus for me; the 'lengthening' of my legs also made them appear slimmer, another thing that satisfied my needs. Also, something I find with pointed-toe heels is that they can squish your feet but these feel super comfortable at the front and are completely squish-free! My favourite aspect is the golden, metallic strap that hugs at your ankle - personally, I find these a lovely additional touch to a shoe and can really complete an outfit.

One thing I would definitely recommend is to purchase your shoes one size larger than your normal size; my feet were insanely squished in the first pair I bought so I had to return and get the next one up. The delivery and exchange was insanely swift with no time wasting - I had these beauties back in my hand in no time!


I will most certainly be getting the Red and White pair of these retro styled shoes. My other favourite pair of shoes from Online Avenue's trainer collection would have to be their Elyse Lace Up Mesh Running Shoes; the black and turquoise look incredible together and would be amazing for a cheap pair of gym trainers at £14.99.

Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Palette | Review

After witnessing the huge social media and blogger/vlogger community craze about Gwen Stefani's limited edition eyeshadow palette, I couldn't resist not buying it for myself. This palette is different from any I currently own - a mixture of fun, qwerky colours combined with neutral/champagne shades. Versatility is such an important component to any palette, making it perfect for travelling, as well as enabling day/night use and opening up the audience to those who love neutrals, colours or both.


Being a huge fan of Urban Decay and their incredible, best-selling eyeshadow palettes, I was never worried about the pigmentation or look on the lid. Encased in a classy golden compact, there lay 15 shades, ranging from beiges, taupes, golds to popping,vibrant colours. The palette was smaller than I anticipated but that wasn't too much of an issue because it will be handy to slip into my makeup bag when I'm out-and-about!

Shades:

Blonde - a warm, ivory/beige with a hint of pink iridescence

Bathwater - subtle golden beige with warm undertones

Skimp - a neutral peach with a satin sheen effect

Steady - a metallic, peachy/copper shade with high warm undertones

Punk - a  matte, muted plum with berry-like undertones

Baby - a sparkly rose-copper shade that appears rose-gold on the lid

Anaheim - a soft, taupe matte (something I love to shove in my crease on a lazy day)

Stark - a naked peachy beige, perfect as a transition colour

Zone - a standard medium brown, matte & muted

Serious - a dark smoky gray with tiny glitters, purple undertones

Pop - a champagne, coral with intense iridescent sparkle

Harajuku - a frosty, vibrant pink with intense blue undertones

Danger - a rich royal blue with lots of sparkle/shimmer

1987 - a classy metallic yellow-gold with a frosty finish

Blackout - a matte black (from the Naked 2 also, perfect for lining the eyes) 


Overall, as expected, the pigmentation and colour payoff is, and will always be, flawless on Urban Decay's behalf. They never fail to impress me with their beautifully arranged eye shadow palettes and creamy, pigmented colours. My top 3 fave colours from the palette have to be : Punk, Baby and Pop!

Festive Nail Polishes

Nail polishes become one of my favourite things around Christmas time. During the rest of the year, I usually find painting my nails an irritating chore but when Christmas arrives, I can't help feeling completely happy as I spruce up my nails with a red, green or glitter polish. 

At the beginning of the month, I attended Clothes Show Live with my best friend, Jess, and I received tonnes more nail varnishes to add to my winter/Christmas collection - a few of which will be included in this mini top 5 post. Enjoy! x

My Jim Kersie Experience | Purple & Gold

Deep purple, plum and auburn are colours I opt for when putting together autumnal outfits - don't we all?! Something that has made a statement this year, for me personally, is the use of jewellery equipped with my chosen outfit. Having an evergrowing colletion of beautiful jewellery pieces, both subtle and bold, I have never seen, through my many years of hoarding, a bracelet quite like this one.

Purple Jasper and 22kt Gold - Phoenix Collection!


I am a enormous purple lover, hence the multiple purple items surrounding my new, beloved trinket. On receiving my product, it was luxuriously encased in a sleek, black gift box and mini leather drawstring bag with the 'JK' intials imprinted in wealthy gold. The packaging extremely impressed me - I feel like packaging can 'make or break' a company's professionalism and respectibility and JIM KERSIE definitely lived up to my standards!

Focusing now on the jewellery piece itself, I was in awe at the array of purples chosen to craft this gorgeous bracelet. It is subtle in size, which is fabulous for everyday wear because it doesn't get in the way or get caught on clothing. I also thought the 'JK' embossed 22kt Golden beads were a lovely touch as well - gold and purple compliment each other wonderfully and add a bold statement to an evening outfit.


10/10 recommend this brand from everything of the warm customer service to the neatly packaged product. This would make a wonderful Christmas gift for your mother, auntie, cousin or friend - especially with the free giftbox included! (There are also some lovely male structured pieces too, so don't forget to check them out!)

Gold & Subtle | Orelia Jewellery

During this time of year, I seem to approach my golden jewellery more often than usual. Autumn, for me personally, is a time for golden, warmer tones so my beloved silver-wear gets shoved to the back of my jewellery box for a while. Additionally, this year I've gained a growing passion for subtle accessories to incorporate a little extra to my outfits.


Therefore, I couldn't do anything but get excited when contacted by Orelia Jewellery early September to collaborate on a post including their gorgeous products. I've been a huge fan of this trusted brand for some time now; they work alongside well-known brands, like topshop, to deliver the best jewels to girls who loooove adding a little sparkle to their attire. 

As seen on the left of the photo, you are introduced to a pretty rectangular crystal bar thread necklace with 4 diamontes in the centre. This is a necklace I've been pairing with many of my sixth form outfits; it is so versatile and works with absolutely everything/any occasion. One of those must-have jewellery pieces, I think!


My favourite of the three pieces has to be this Star Lariat bangle - this thin, simple golden bangle is fastened by a star through a cut-out moon. I love this very subtle but unique look - the night theme is appealing and would be a great addition to an evening outfit. This also reminds me of bonfire night, everyone spends their evening outside roasting marshmallows, sitting around a campfire or watching fireworks - one of my favourite days in the A/W period.


Finally, I was kindly gifted a stunning Open Circle Crystal Stone ring. The simplistic detailing instantly drew me in - understated, small rings are something I enjoy adding to any combination. The use of both contrasting jewellery colours also appealed to me because you get the best of both worlds and I get to include a little sparkle to the outfit. (BONUS!!!)

Evening Makeup Look // Collab w. MollyIsabelSmith

First off, I'd like to let you all know that today's post is part of a collab with Molly Smith from mollyisabelsmith.blogspot.co.uk. Alternatively, she has created a daytime and more natural look - the complete opposite of my intense eye makeup and bold lips. You can also find Molly on @mollyisabels on both twitter and instagram. It has been lovely working with her and I would be so grateful, as would she, if you went over to her blog and checked out her post.

Creating a bolder, intense makeup look is one of my ultimate past times; I love indulging in deeper lip colours and throwing dark shades onto my eyes. I just so happen to enter my own little bubble of serenity when I alter my makeup to something more dramatic than the regular day time face. Starting with the face, something I don't drastically transform, I opt for a full-coverage foundation (MAC Studio Fix Fluid NC15). This works well when faking a flawless complexion as well as lasting the entire evening, whether you be going out to a fancy restaurant or partying all night long, this foundation will stay put. The only other change in my face makeup is contouring. Personally, I like to contour my face A LOT when I'm wearing evening makeup. I apply my Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess in the hollows of my cheeks, my temples, under my jaw and sometimes on the tip of my nose; contouring is a great way to dramatise your makeup from day to night. In the look above, I also used Mac's Soft&Gentle to highlight, Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer to eliminate appearance of under eye cirles/highlight my T-Zone and Mac's Fleur Power for a subtle hint of blush. 

The primary focal point of the look comes down to the eyes. Maybelline's Colour Tattoo in Eternal Gold was perfect for creating a base on the eyelid. This helps to avoid creasing and maintain the eyeshadow applied on top. Next, I turned to my trusty Naked 2 palette and applied SNAKEBITE through the crease until fully blended. If you aren't comfortable using black eyeshadow, then skip the next step - I decided to increase the intensity by defining my outer corner. This was easily done by adding the darkest, opaque shade in the Naked 2 palette - blackout. Little by little, I tapped this onto my outer corner and blended thoroughly to ensure no harsh lines were present. To finish the eye look, I added some golden liquid glitter from Essence and painted on some winged liner. My lashes were lengthened and volumized using Smashbox's mascara; I also went under my eye with snakebite to define my eye shape.

Deciding on a lip colour was the final challenge. Owning many a dark lip, it was a difficult decision but in the end I chose Maybelline's Colour Drama Lip Pencil in Berry Much. Rich purples look undeniably fabulous with dramatic eyes and definitely a go-to of mine. Also, I think a ruby red lip would look equally as gorgeous with this eye makeup - gold and red are a great combo!

QWERKY EARRINGS //Body Jewellery Shop

Recently, I've been reaching out to jewellery a little more than I used to. I always forgot the endless stacks of necklaces, bracelets and pairs of earrings I had stuffed into a little box. Since going on holiday, I've realised that jewellery can complete an outfit and make it look 10x better. Fortunately, I was contacted by the wonderful people at Body Jewellery Shop who kindly gifted me with three EarPiercing Jewellery for me to try out and give my honest opinion to all of you lot...Let's get cracking!

Body Shop Jewellery have a fantastic range of EarPiercing items that are unique from any jewellery I've seen before; they also hold other piercing products from nose studs to tongue bars if you are bit more exotic than me who only holds two holes in each ear. I must say I'd love more ear piercings and my belly pierced though...


  Jewelled Silver Stud - Pink Bow (£3.95)

My first item is a pretty little girly stud that is made of stunning pink jewels. This was my initial go-to sample as like most girls, I'm all for anything girly and subtle like this little gem. The silver framing and stud length really compliment the light pink shade used to create the bow. A fabulous choice for all those who love a bit of extra pink to accessorize with.


Silver Ear Cuff - Dragonfly (£2.49)

Possibly my favourite pick of the three - this fake silver cuff dragonfly is so elegant looking. Personally, I would 100% wear this to a special occasion, I can imagine wearing it to a wedding with my hair swept back and in a light coloured dress. The fragile looking creature could completely impact your outfit, despite its petiteness. I'm a huge fan of the ear cuffed jewellery, even though this is fake and I do not actually have a piercing here. Nonetheless, the dragonfly remains put throughout the day and is very comfortable to wear.


Zircon Steel Clip On Ear Cuff - 2 Rings (£1.99)

The golden cuff above is certainly the opposite of the previous two mentioned. Alternatively, the zircon steel 2-ringed ear cuff gives off an edgy vibe, a complete contrast to the girly products noted earlier. This is very different from my usual jewellery style and that is what I love about it the most - it is UNIQUE to my world. This would look super cool with a golden, chunky statement necklace, a plain tee and a pair of ripped jeans. Hopefully I can find an outfit that will totally bring the edgy side of me out, who knows?! Finally, I thought it was cool that I had a stud to mirror the two balls on the ear cuff (I AM S A D!)

Royal Flashback of the Day: June 11

Add another couple to the guest list for Carl Philip and Sofia's wedding: Billed-Bladet reports the Greek royal court confirmed that Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana will be in attendance. This is encouraging news, I'd say, because Tatiana has turned in some A+ ensembles at past Scandinavian royal weddings. Let us examine:

Her ensemble for Madeleine's wedding is my least favorite of these options, despite the fact that it is the only one with a tiara (the Antique Corsage Tiara), but in this case, that means it's still quite good. Even though it is a basic overall look, the fit and draping on this dress are dreamy. As they should be, for a bespoke gown from Armani Privé.

Her two previous appearances came prior to her own wedding. She had no tiara to wear, but she also had no order sashes to worry about, and she made the most of her appearances without those occasionally pesky ribbons.

A purple gown has my heart no matter what, but all the pleated texture on this one was truly best showcased in those pre-sash days. This is from Angel Sanchez, who would later design Tatiana's wedding gown, and it was also worn by actress Nicolette Sheridan.

It takes a LOT to best a purple gown for me, but then you have THIS RIGHT HERE. This is Carolina Herrera, and it is majestic. A sash worn here would have conflicted with the dress embellishment, so it was a perfect choice for a royal wedding guest appearance before her own wedding.
It even has a train! Such jumpy claps.
You can wrap these both up and put them in my imaginary princess closet, please and thank you.

Royal Fashion Awards: Queen Margrethe's Fredensborg Birthday Dinner

The last event of Queen Margrethe's birthday fiesta was a dinner at Fredensborg Palace, not to be confused with the dinner at Christiansborg Palace last night. Did you think we were going to repeat our palaces in the same birthday celebration? Don't be ridiculous.

I had hope that this evening's black tie dinner would be a tiara event. (A similar dinner back in 2010 was with tiaras, for example.) That hope, however, was dashed. SO CRUELLY DASHED. My faith in Margrethe's capacity for sartorial splendor has been shaken to its very core! How will we ever recover from this travesty??

Alright, I'm over it. Let's work with what we've got:

Sorry, birthday girl, but I'm giving you the side eye real hard here. The accessorizing, specifically - it was a great dress when she wore it to the Dutch state visit, and it still is now. But it's got cool and muted tones, and that turquoise and gold set is all kinds of bright and warm, and the contrast is making me cringe. (The necklace was a birthday gift from Prince Henrik, a new addition to her modern turquoise set which includes pieces he gave her for previous birthdays. Which is fantastic - and the necklace is the best piece of the set! - but still not at its best with this dress.) She also snuck a piece of the Floral Aigrette Tiara in her hair. Ordinarily I'd be all over that, but instead, I'm just wondering why she didn't just make the dinner a tiara thing and let the other ladies play too. It's possible I'm not entirely over it.

Even my faith in Mary's ability to pull off a great outfit is shaken. I think I like this one...I might even like the center part low ponytail. Hmm. I reserve the right to change my judgement.

Just go with it, okay? Floaty is the only word I've got for this dress, and you wouldn't have been able to stop me from swooping around with my wings fluttering behind me right in the middle of dinner. That's why she's the princess and I am NOT. (One of the many reasons...)

I thought this was the same dress she wore to yesterday's dinner. But it's not. It's very slightly different. Used up those Best in Usual titles a little too soon, I guess.

Royal Outfit of the Day: April 14

This being her birthday week and all, I think we need one more flashback to a Queen Margrethe classic. And if anything screams Daisy Style, this is it: big fabric, big sleeves, big skirt, big look.
The outfit comes from the late Jørgen Bender, her favorite couturier. Bender was the go-to designer for Danish royal wedding dresses for many years, making Queen Margrethe's own wedding gown and those of her sisters, Queen Anne-Marie and Princess Benedikte, plus the gowns for Princess Alexandra of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg and Alexandra Manley (Prince Joachim's first wife, now the Countess of Frederiksborg, who also wore many of his clothes during her marriage). He was a favorite of Queen Ingrid's before becoming a favorite of Queen Margrethe, and thanks to Ingrid's guidance, he also dressed Queen Silvia of Sweden frequently. This was a designer that knew how to dress a queen, and today's outfit is the perfect example.
This dress and jacket combo made its debut at one of the aforementioned weddings, that of Prince Joachim and Alexandra Manley in 1995. It was an evening winter event, so extravagant fabrics and fur were just right. (See it in action here, starting around 1:30. Disclaimer: I can not be held responsible if that link sends you down the royal wedding rabbit hole. That's on you.)
I often joke that certain dresses look like sofas or drapes, but this is the rare case where that's actually true: Rubelli made the fabric, a company known for its high-end furnishing fabrics, and it's also used in the interior design of one of the palaces. The dress has a sweetheart neckline with full-length sleeves and a sweeping train at the back. The jacket has a slim-fit front, a cape-style back with wide sleeves at three-quarter length, and fur trim around the bottom and the neck. Obviously there are also shoes and a handbag made to match in the same fabric, because it wouldn't be a signature Margrethe look without them.
For the wedding, she wore the Floral Aigrette Tiara and the set of rubies, diamonds, and pearls that belongs to the Danish crown jewels. Using the dress and jacket again for later official portraits, she used the Pearl Poire Tiara and the pearl and diamond jewels that are often worn with it (and I do prefer the pearl tiara with this, despite my deep love for her flexible floral diadem).
The whole effect is intended to be rather Holbein-like, and fittingly, she also wore this for a very imperious portrait by Thomas Kluge (you may know him from a slightly more infamous portrait of the royals). The whole look borders on overwhelming, but it's such a good match to its wearer, I can't help but love it. The Queen mentions in Dronningens Kjoler by Katia Johansen that this dress could someday replace the blue court dress with fur trim she's been using for the daytime New Year's Courts for so many years, and I, for one, can't wait for that day to arrive.
