Royal Outfits of the Day: January 20

Yesterday was a red day, today is a blue day. I love it when royals accidentally color coordinate with each other. Yes, I'm very easily amused.
For more pictures, click here or here.
Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, and Princess Estelle started their visit to the Bay Area. Estelle wasn't expected to be a big part of the visit, but she did participate in the casual first part, including a visit to the Church of Sweden San Francisco. They presented a united family front in a series of blues, from Victoria's bright dress to Daniel's light tie and Estelle's printed dress and cardigan. Coordinated, but stopping just short of overdoing it, I think.

And in a land far, far away, someone else unknowingly played along with the Swedish matching game:
Duchess of Cambridge had an event in Kensington yesterday.
I'm in favor of all Estelle-approved color schemes, and she's smartly left the hair bows to the professionals, by which I mean toddlers.
Kate's take includes maternity pieces from Seraphine, a light blue cashmere blend coat (with more Pocket Flaps to Nowhere, though these make a little more sense at the seam and in the same color and fabric) and a printed crêpe de chine dress underneath.
Classics, very flattering, and I wouldn't mind a non-maternity version of that coat for myself. Or just the maternity version, and I'll call it my Thanksgiving coat. I could make it work.

Royal Outfit of the Day: October 13

Royal Outfit of the Day: October 13

This weekend marked another milestone for Felipe VI's reign in Spain: his first National Day as king.
For the parade, Felipe was decked out in uniform, their daughters were dressed in Nanos, and Letizia stuck to her favorite designer, Felipe Varela. The dress has the look of a standard, one of those tweedy/bouclé numbers you might get from vintage Chanel, but Letizia - as always - puts her own twist on the story with a closely tailored fit and a shaped neckline.
The story took an unexpected turn at the back: a different fabric! Which has the unfortunate effect of appearing that they accidentally ran out of the good stuff. I was with her until that plot twist, and now I think I have to crown Felipe the best dressed of the day (if you're going to change out of your uniform for the reception, might as well make it some natty pinstripes, right?).

Royal Outfit of the Day: August 7

The Spanish royal family posed for the press at the start of their summer holidays at Marivent Palace in Palma de Mallorca.
I would hide behind the girls too, if I forgot to change out of my pajamas before a photocall. Smart move, Letizia.
Leti's drawstring trousers from Hugo Boss. I was dicey on these when they appeared in a fancier fashion, but paired with a simple v-neck tee...nope. Well, not for press business, at least.

Royal Trip of the Day: August 6

Royal Trip of the Day: August 6

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary are touring Greenland with their four children.
Video, above.
Cuteness and colorful national costumes all in one?! This trip is the best. The family really seems to be getting in the spirit of things  - the twins are apparently even being called by their Greenlandic middle names, Ivalo for Josephine and Minik for Vincent. They're a walking advertisement for casual sweater style, and I couldn't be more jealous. (Is it fall yet? Summer really doesn't suit me. Nature keeps declining to consider my personal preferences, the nerve.)

Some galleries for your investigation: in national dress, Josephine making a new friend, and more sweaters.

Royal Family Outing of the Day: July 25

The Danish royal family posed for their annual photocall at the start of their summer vacation at Gråsten Palace.
Luckily a whole family affair offers us a large selection of potential focal points, including a very sharply dressed Princess Benedikte (my personal best dressed for the day), because I don't know what's happening right here:
This is just...I mean...what?! Does it get better in motion?

No. No it does not. Le sigh.

Royal Birthday of the Week: July 24

Prince George of Cambridge turned 1 this week, and new pictures were released.
No, I didn't forget that Prince George had a birthday. I just like to save up my doses of cuteness for when I really need them, like on a Thursday, when I need one last push to get me to the end of the week. I'm strategic like that.
Just to throw some fashion into the mix: the proud mum wore this cute green Suzannah dress, which we've previously seen her wear under her green Erdem coat.
