February is one of the most popular months for weddings in Tasmania, with summer being in full swing.  I am mostly booked out for February every year but with this wedding, the lovely bride was super organised.   She booked almost 2 years in advance and we had plenty of time to plan and look forward to the big day!

Woodbridge Hill Hideaway

The wedding was held at Woodbridge Hill Hideaway,  high up in the hills behind Woodbridge to the south of Hobart.  The venue has spectacular views, and on a clear day you can see for hundreds of kilometres towards the east.  

The bride was after pink, green and cream with a rustic feel.  February can be a changeable month with flowers, depending on how long the summer lingers for.  This season, I had plenty of lovely rich pinks and reds to choose from.

For the brides bouquet, a rich wine-coloured Banksia Praemorsa was the central flower.  Each bouquet had a Pink Ice Protea, some rich pinky red Banksia Occidentalis, and some gorgeous green and red Hydrangea.

I added Brunia Albiflora to each bouquet too.  It's purplish brown-grey tones were lovely peeping out from amongst all the colour.  Some newly planted green leucadendrons called Orientale were added too.  They are a great soft green with burgundy tips and tinge.  

I also added some sedum, echinacea, and hebe.  The foliage used was Risdon Peppermint and Pittosportum, with some Hebe seed heads which I love to use in bouquets.  

Such beautiful rich pinks!

A fresh flower hair slide for the bride used more Hyrdrangea, Sedum, Pittosporum and Peppermint, with a Banksia Occindentalis, Brunia, Hebe and wax flower.

  Beautiful on that gorgeous dark hair.  

For table decorations, there were lots of little wooden boxed arrangements.  

Each centrepiece had a Protea Pink Ice, Brunia, Banksia Occidentalis, Silver Tree and lots of leucadendrons, foliage and texture.  

So pretty and fresh!

Larger boxed arrangements to decorate the venue had more Hyrdangea, Banksia Praemorsa, Protea Pink Ice, Banksia Occidentalis, Brunia, some dried Silver Tree cones and some summer grasses.  

I really enjoyed the colour and texture combinations in these boxed arrangements and centrepieces.

I love the dusky pink of the Banksai Praemorsa in this one.  Rustic, pink, and pretty.

Corsages for the mums.

For the mums and grandmas, there were sweet little corsages.

And for the men, boutonniere using Brunia and a range of foliages.

It was such a treat to be involved in the wedding of this lovely couple.  I wish them all the best for their future together.

This January it was my pleasure to create some flowers for a simple backyard wedding in Hobart.  The weather was warm and the yard had been planted out with lots of colour to create a gorgeous environment for the ceremony.

"Rich native colours" was the request, so I knew I'd be using the Safari Sunset Leucadendrons in the mix.  Their rich burgundy colour in summer is always a great addition to a bouquet.

The focal flowers were rich pink-red Protea Compacta and apricot-orange Leucospermum Fountain.  There were other leucadendrons in the mix - some Leucadendron Pisa with their yellow-green bracts and silvery cones, and some Inca Gold which in summer are a rich jungle green with red tips.  

The yellow flowers are a plant from the daisy family, known commonly as the Curry Bush.  The flowers are long lasting and dry well.  There's some Brunia Albiflora in the bouquet too.  The foliage used is Risdon Peppermint, a native tasmanian eucalyptus.  There is also some wax flower and some myrtle foliage.  

I used some fresh poppy pods in both the bouquet and the boutonniere.  I love the shape and that gorgeous matte green!

For the reception, there were little pots of colour to brighten up the local restaurant, a short walk down the road.  Rich green ceramic pots exploded with summer cheeriness!

You can see wax flower, Leucospermum Fountain, Safari Sunset, curry plant, foliage and brunia.  

Two larger pots sat along the large restaurant windows.

 What a great setting for a relaxed summer wedding - the Coal River Valley is a beautiful part of Tasmania with many fabulous wineries.  Pooley Wines is the setting for this wedding I was privileged to provide flowers for.  

The three bouquets combine pastel summer tones with the textures of native foliage and gum nuts.

In the bouquets you can see Wax Flower, Eucalyptus, Dryandra Formosa, Proteas and a number of different Leucadendrons including Pisa, Safari Goldstrike and Safari Sunset.  There is also some late Berzelia.

I love the style of this informal, yet well-considered wedding theme.  

Early wax flower, some still in bud, combined with gum nuts, eucalyptus foliage and the soft silvery yellow of the Leucadendron Pisa bracts surrounding silvery cones - simple rustic boutonnieres.

There were so many lovely details included in the celebration.  Floral centrepieces were created in vintage fowlers jars and suited the long table style of seating.  Bunches of flowers were also hung on the doors of the beautiful old stone barn where the wedding was held.  You can see a Leucadendron Silver Tree cone, more gum nuts, Silver Tree foliage, Leucadendrons and Proteas.

Native summer blooms are combined with foliage, gum huts and twisted willow.

The pincushions are Scarlet Ribbons which are early in their season here, and are softly purple and red coloured.  

Little details provide personality to a wedding.  This wedding had loads of personality!  The chair decorations were simple but added soft summery colour to the ceremony seating.

We were thrilled to be able to provide flowers for this beautiful February wedding.  The bride wore a gorgeous vintage dress and the colours for the bridesmaids were apricot, peach and orange.  

Pink Ice Protea and Fountain Pincushions were the main flowers.  The Fountain are a later flowering pincushion and are at their height in January and early February.  They have a soft purplish tinge when they first begin to flower so they really went well with the apricot and peach colours.  I added some bright pink Kangaroo Paw, Brunia Albiflora, some gorgeous purplish silver eucalyptus foliage and some blue green conifer foliage.  As a highlight, I added some gorgeous summer grass seed heads.  The bouquet was bound with jute ribbon and I added a bow which was removable.  The bride opted for removing the bow and I think it really worked.  The colours worked so well with her stunning ivory coloured vintage dress.

For the bridesmaids, I used Pink Ice Protea, Brunia Albiflora, Pink Kangaroo Paw, Geraldton Wax and  more of the native foliage.  Each of the bridesmaids dresses were different - all variations on the vintage theme so keeping their bouquets all the same was important.

Grevillea foliage, and the same blue green conifer foliage also tie the bouquets together, with the summer grass highlights also added.  Again, the bows were removable.  

In keeping with the idea of the different bridesmaids dresses, the bride decided that the boutonniere should all be different.  What fun!  Using different combinations of the flowers and foliage from the bouquets, I created the button holes to be all different, but "matching".  

The groom's boutonniere stood out by being slightly larger.  You can see a dried leucadendron cone, single Brunia Albiflora, Kangaroo Paw, Banksia, conifer foliage and summer grass.

And lastly, the corsage for the Mother of the Bride - a combination of Kangaraoo Paw, Grevillea, Wax flower, foliage and summer grass.
