Purple wedding reception displays

Having blogged about colour in wedding bouquets (see purple designs here) and gone through the more popular colours, we now go through the same colours but for the reception designs. Mostly featuring table centrepieces for your guest tables.
Starting with purple again, we feature many types and styles of designs to bring ideas and inspiration for your planning.

One of my favourite low designs, a nest of vines with a display of lilacs and purples with lovely foliage. A lovely alternative spring display.

Bird cages are very popular with a country theme. These designs are encased within the cage (left) or just with a few trailing sprigs (right).

Or if you want more glamour, our black urns may be for you? Filled with gorgeous ivory roses with purple Vanda orchids for a splash of colour.

Our cylinder vases can be arranged in groups of 3 and have flowers of your choice. Here we have calla, agapanthus and rose.

Our gorgeous tall candelabras can be arranged with flowers in so many ways. This display is to suit a country garden style but still keeping the glamour of the crystal chimneys.

Or for total glamour style with a ball of roses, carnations, eustoma and foliage.

The top table will look stunning with a long and low of your chosen flowers

or we can work with the venue stylist if adding ribbons and swags to your table.

For a larger, deeper table other displays can be added either end like these lily vases with roses and bear grass.

Or with candelabras for a candle lit mood later in the evening.

You don't have to stick with just purple, and or white, add in another colour to brighten the theme.

Pedestals are not just for church. Use them for your civil ceremony and then move to your top table or cake table, or to greet guests as they arrive.

Wanting to keep tables simple? Fish bowls with floating flowers work well

or wrap them around the bowl, callas are perfect for this

Or fill the bowl with beautiful blooms and fairy lights.

Country crates are popular. This one is filled with flowers and herbs, adding a lovely aroma to the day.

Wanting tall designs without blowing the budget? Our lily vases can be filled with many flowers, here with purple September and eustoma.

We have martini vases go many heights. These are just the right height for your guest tables. A central delphinium spike surrounded with roses, carnations, astro and more.

To add mood lighting around your venue, our hurricane vases with tea lights can be hired and blooms added to them to suit your theme.

Or fill them with flowers to dot along your top table

Buckets can be filed with your favourite blooms too

Our small candelabras can be styled with gorgeous flowers and used at the main centrepiece

or for the top table alongside the taller ones for the guest tables.

Don't forget the humble posy. These have their place, either as centrepieces in their own right or to jazz up the outer bar area as here at The Dower Hotel.

And last but certainly not least, the jam jar. An ever popular favourite. Here there is one jar filled with flowers and foliage, teamed with a fern plant and a tea light.

Whatever and however you want your reception styled, we can provide expert advice and on the day set up. We also clear down if our vases are used and hired, early the next morning, while you enjoy your breakfast usually.

We have many many more ideas, but these are perfect for a purple theme. If you are having other colours, they can all be tailored to that too, just ask for more options.

I hope this has given you inspiration and if you would like to talk through your flower displays with us please book an appointment. Either email/ring or you can now book online.

Purple wedding bouquets

Today we look at colour. Most brides will pick a main colour and then one or two accent colours but you can go rainbow or no particular colour scheme, but it does help you to have a focused colour. This will usually be the colour your bridesmaids are wearing. This, along with your dress, will determine the colour and style (along with your venue) of your whole day.
We start this series of posts off with the colour Purple.
A very popular colour a few years ago, it is slightly out of favour at the minute but a favourite of mine and a lovely palette of colour to blend.

With your colouring, you don't have to stick rigid to one shade, indeed flowers always look better if a range of shades are included as long as the tones match. So with purple you have lilac, lavender, violet, mauve and plum.

So to the flowers;
Amnesia roses are a dusky/dirty lilac colour and these are with ivory roses and gyp

One of the true purple flowers eustoma. This bouquet has a mix of purple, violet, two tone and white eustoma with grasses.

The smaller version for the bridesmaid

Or you could have a tighter posy of just the flower heads. Same flowers as above, different look.

Picasso calla lily, hot chocolate calla teamed with white gerbera

Another two tone calla lily en masse

A bridesmaid overarm bouquet of dark purple calla lily, aspidistra leaves and bear grass

A similar bouquet with dark purple, two tone and white calla lily

A country style bouquet with purple eustoma, lilac freesia, ivory wax flower, roses and ferns.

Smaller bridesmaid version

A gorgeous bouquet of white calla lily, roses, purple eustoma and freesia with palms

and the smaller bridesmaid version.

A lovely posy of lilac and ivory roses, spray roses and gyp.

Lilac freesia, purple eustoma., thistles, ivory roses with eucalyptus and a silver wire collar.

Another lovely country bouquet of ivory gerbera, roses, astilbe and purple september flowers and lilac freesia.

A shower bouquet of purple eustoma, delphiniums, lavender roses, statice, roses, and ivory roses

Don't forget your flower girls, these wands with eustoma and campanula flowers are so sweet.

Ivory roses with eustoma flowers and foliage in a posy hand tie

Ivory roses and bouvardia with purple eustoma.

Purple tulips with ivy collar.

Me with my purple themed bouquet for our wedding.

I hope this has given you some ideas for your own purple themed bouquets. As ever for more ideas scroll through 'labels' and go to Colour:Purple......

If you would like to discuss your flowers please book a consultation here at The Studio where we will gladly talk you through your options.

Purple Calla lily wedding flowers

I loved this wedding, the purple calla lily are just stunning.
Marianne brought in a photo of a bouquet she had seen online and asked if I could recreate as close as possible. The bouquet was full of calla's, large leaves behind and bear grass with pearls threaded through the flowers.

We agreed on the colour of the calla's and left the foliage to me.

These callas had a natural bend in the stem and they naturally trailed to give a shower type shape.

The one bridesmaid had a smaller overarm bouquet with a more rigid shape to the design.

The two flower girls carried a posy of 3 calla lily, loops of bear grass and a few small dark leaves.

All stems were bound with ivory satin ribbon.

The groomsmen wore a single calla lily with loops of aspidistra and beargrass

The other special guests wore a single ivory rose with bear grass loops and dark small leaves.

All buttonholes had matching ivory ribbon.

Buttonholes ready to be presented to the bridal party.

I was honoured to be asked to provide these wedding flowers and was very happy to be given a hug by the bride on delivery and her comment of 'They are much better than I had hoped for' really does make the stress of trying to recreate a design more than worthwhile.

If you love calla lily and would love these designs for your wedding or just love the different style please get in touch to book a consultation today.
